Description
A facsimile of the 1864 manuscript. Introduction by Martin Gardner
This manuscript was the original version of the Alice story and is very different from the book "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" that we all know. Carroll apparently would not consent to publishing "Alice's Adventures under Ground" until 1886. This edition is now a very rare book.
This present Dover edition is much the closest approximation that has ever been made to Carroll's manuscript. It has been prepared from new photographs made from the manuscript, and the title page and dedication page, which Carroll coloured elaborately, have been reproduced in their original colours on the front and rear covers of this book
